I have seen $10,000, $100,000, and $1,000,000 shoot-outs where four finalists back off about 165 yards and go for a big money prize for a hole in one. These events feature one pin on a green for the prize. The shoot-out I am reporting on has one pin on a green for $1,000,000 and 18 more pins on the green yielding prizes of $10,000 cash and/or prizes. So the odds of winning are 19 times greater than just one pin. Also, those interested in entering the contest may have multiple opportunities to compete, not just one shot to qualify as a finalist. Antler Creek Golf Club will be hosting a $1,000,000 shoot-out June 8 through June 11 with the Golf Connections 1st Annual Antler Creek Invitational golf tournament to follow on Monday May 12. Both events are sponsored by Golf Connections.us and benefit local High School Golf Teams and the Colorado Junior Golf Association. The Antler Creek golf course is the longest par-72 course in America measuring 8165 yards from the tips.

Beginning on June 8 through 11th aspiring golfers can try to qualify at Antler Creek. Qualifying at additional golf courses will also take place during selected weekends in May. High school teams will conduct the pre-qualifying at their home course and all proceeds will remain with the school. For an update on qualification locations before June 8 call Guy Girtin at Antler Creek 719-494-1900 x1. The cost is $1.00 per ball. There is no limit on the number of balls a player may hit in an effort to get within a six-foot circle around the pin and automatically advance into the semi-finals. The distance is approximately 125 to 135 yards. The 25 closest to the pin in the semi-finals will compete in the finals on Sunday June 11. The finals will be televised in a 30-minute Golf Show Special on KOAA-TV Ch.5/30 on Saturday July 15 at 4:00 pm. The show will also be seen on Comcast Cable TV (CET) in Denver and on Adelphia Cable TV in Colorado Springs.
The proceeds from the shootout and the golf tournament to follow on June 12 go to Colorado Springs area high school golf programs in conjunction with the Colorado Junior Golf Association.
The day of the finals, June 11, the 25 finalists plus all pin sponsors will try to make a hole in one for $1,000,000. The unique feature of this shoot out is that the 18 hole sponsors for the June 12th Golf Connections 1st Annual Antler Creek Invitational golf tournament will have pins on the final shoot out green. Should a contestant hole out in one of the bonus cups, a minimum of $10,000 in cash or prizes will be awarded. That means $1,180,000 will be at risk.
