Colorado Springs Golf Course Information

Attention athletic seniors! The Colorado Springs Sports Corporation has received a grant, which will allow seniors participating in the Rocky Mountain State Games (RMSG) a 50% discount on their registration fees, while the funds last. The senior division of the RMSG includes the following: 5K Run/Walk, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Field Hockey, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Billiards, Bowling, GOLF, of course, Martial Arts (45+), Racquetball, Table Tennis (40+), Track and Field, Triathlon and Weightlifting. For more information contact Brian Schell: 719-634-7333 ext, 1007 or e-mail Brian@TheSportsCorp.org. Registration includes a Rocky Mountain State Games t-shirt, and a free ticket to the pomp and celebration of the Opening Ceremony. The Opening Ceremony will be held at the United States Air Force Academy the evening of July 30th and will feature the parade of athletes, skydivers, a wide range of entertainment and lighting of the RMSG cauldron by an Olympic Gold Medalist. I am looking forward to the Opening Ceremony. I am sure it will remind us of the Olympics, but with communities throughout our state represented rather than those throughout the world.

Attention seniors who are not athletes but who wish to get involved as volunteers! 6,000 athletes of all ages will participate and each will be given athletic bags stuffed with good things from sponsors and other sources. The RMSG needs people to stuff those bags. Seniors, juniors, anyone willing to help out. There are perks: each volunteer will have available coffee and donuts while stuffing and everyone will get a free ticket to attend the opening ceremonies as well as a RMSG t-shirt. Other volunteers are needed to provide transportation for senior volunteers and athletes is needed throughout the Games, but especially for the opening ceremonies on July 30th. No registration fees for volunteers, it's free! Call Keri Malone to volunteer: 719-634-7333 ext. 1009 or e-mail Keri@TheSportsCorp.org.

My interest will be in the two golf tournaments, which will take place at both the Broadmoor and King's Deer in Monument. I'll see you there?

2004 INTERNATIONAL YOUTH GOLF SERIES CLINICS

Now that you know about the opportunity for seniors at the Rocky Mountain State Games (Journal Entry #34), let's swing the age pendulum to an opportunity for the young.

FREE junior golf clinics are being held throughout our state; however, the next one coming up is on July 10th at Valley Hi Golf Course here in Colorado Springs. The clinics are sponsored by the Colorado PGA Foundation and feature PGA Professionals teaching putting, chipping and full swing.

Attendance is FREE for all youths ages 6-17 from 10:00am - 2:00pm with registration starting 30 minutes prior. To register call 719-385-6911.

Participants do not have to have their own clubs.
