Tournament List for Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs Golf Course Information

What's more important, volunteering to thank and serve our troops returning from Iraq and their families or working on golf tournaments? A no brainer, right?

Well, believe it or not, getting 100 people to volunteer to help serve 8,000 of our troops and their families following the largest ticker tape parade in Colorado Springs history has not been so easy. I have been working on gathering volunteers for the past two weeks and only 50 people have come fourth.

5,000 Fort Carson volunteer troops have fought for our freedom over the past year. Forty-four lost their lives. Now is the time to show our appreciation, look them in the eye, serve them double cheeseburgers and say THANK YOU!

If you would like to help out, we have six-hour shifts starting at 8:30am and 9:30am on Saturday, June 5th. Both adults and teenagers are welcome. To volunteer simply email john@SeniorFriendlyGolf.com or give me a call 719-520-5991. Starbucks coffee, Krispy Kreme donuts, and orange juice will be waiting for you in the morning and double cheeseburgers cooked by Burger King, chips and Pepsi will be served as the lunch menu. Thank you to Burger King, Pepsi, Krispy Kreme, and Starbucks. All future information will be through email but include your phone number as well.

Now I'm not putting down volunteering to work on golf tournaments. There are over 10,000 each summer in Colorado. Support your local charities and corporations to help them put on events to remember. If I can help with free tournament consulting services and tournament enhancements let me know that too. That's what I do through SeniorFriendlyGolf.com and Advantage Golf of Colorado.

There are some great opportunities to volunteer to help in two premier professional golf tournaments here in Colorado as well. Regardless if you have experience or not, you are welcome.

The first one on the horizon is THE INTERNATIONAL at Castle Pines, Colorado. I will be a marshal this year for the first time and am looking forward to the experience. THE INTERNATIONAL and its various events will be held August 2nd through the 8th. You will be expected to work three or four shifts, or days, and with 20 hours you will receive continental breakfasts lunch and complimentary seven day passes for your spouse or significant other. Kids under 12 free with your pass. To volunteer you can call either Sam Parker 303-550-3100 email: spraznick@aol.com or Sherry Fetzer 303-814-6280 800-755-1986 email: sfetzer@golfintl.com. You can learn all about THE INTERNATIONAL on the web: www.golfintl.com, where you may also print out an application.

The second one is the 2005 U.S. WOMEN'S OPEN, which will be played at the Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills, Colorado up in Denver. Reserve June 20th through the 26th next year. The web site is www.2005uswomensopen.com. If you want to talk to a person, you can call Liz Ridley, who is the Volunteer Coordinator and Operations Manager. More about this adventure in golf volunteering to come later, but don't delay, sign up now.

I hope to see many of our viewers at both THE INTERNATIONAL and the 2005 U.S. WOMEN'S OPEN. Most of all, however, let's see you the first Saturday in June at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado
